Playing with Garden Whimsy

Here are 3 cards I made today playing with my new stamp set, Garden Whimsy. Its not my best work but pretty good for coming up with my own design and not casing someone else. I think I got too many projects going on right now. Im working on a quilt, this is my newest hobby and am still learning. I am knitting some dish clothes. Im sick of using paper towels to clean up Riley after he eats, so I thought I make a bunch of dish clothes and use those instead. Im also in the process of thoroughly cleaning the house and for reasons unknown to me. You always make a bigger mess while in the process of organizing and cleaning. But on a good note, I got my rebate check in the bank today!!!!!!!!!! A part of me wants to just put it towards bills but we're getting it to boast the economy right?? So Im thinking of getting an entertainment center. Our current one is just an end table and I am soooo tired of fighting with Riley to not get the cords. I would like to get a new bedroom set but I doubt I could get what I want for only $1000. So a nice entertainment center and probably let the husband buy some ammo.

Back from MI

Ok so I havent be able to get online while in MI as much as I would like to and I didnt take as many pictures that I wanted to. But now Im home and totally pooped!! And on top of having to unpack, do laundry...my husband did not do one OUNCE of cleaning while I was gone so I got two weeks worth of filth in my house. I am too tired to clean but its hard to relax when the house is a mess!! MEN!!
1st here's a pic of Riley eating his cake at his 1st birthday party. Turns out I brought the beautiful weather with me to MI, it was absolutely beautiful the whole time I was there and was snowing in WA!! And now Im home and looks like MI is going to get snow on Monday...sorry guys. The only stamping related thing I did while home was the pinwheel class I did for my mom's card swap club. I was too busy to take pictures but I felt we had alot fun, even though we ran into a problem trying to figure out how to get the pinwheel to spin!! I'll have to make a call to SU! support.
Before I lefted for MI I was putting in an order for a workshop I demoed and I kept noticing this SAB reward link in my order page. I thought I didnt earn anything since I did not recruit and only sold what I bought for myself but I guess the big order I put in was enough to earn me a free stamp set!!! YAY!! So I ordered Garden Whimsey, a set Ive been eyeing for a while. But it came after I lefted but now Im home and cant wait to play with it.

Baby Announcements

My sister in law Karin is due to give birth to her second child in June. Since its her second child, their isnt too much to get her for baby gifts. So I knitted her a cute baby blanket and made these baby announcement cards. I cased the card from Taylored Expressions. I changed it up a bit. My card is 3x6 card with Blue Bayou, the design paper is paper my mother got at Sam's club for me for christmas. A huge stack of 12x12's for only $20!!! What a deal. The baby is from Tag Time(retired) and I used Jiffy font for the accounce text. Since the baby isnt born yet, I made a template inside one of the cards so she can print out all the info onto cardstock once the baby is born. She is pretty sure its a boy but the ultrasound tech wasnt so sure. Though if it does turn out to be a girl, it took me no time to whip out 15 of these, I'll just change the color to pink! And my baby blanket is MSU green and white so no worries there.

Projects from this weekend

Here is what I made this weekend. I am doing a card tin class sunday and was messing around with some designs. I used the summer picnic design paper. It isnt finished, but I wanted to post what I started anyways. The card is cased from Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, you can find the tutorial here. For my card I used Pun Fun, Full of Life, and the flower from Enjoy Every Moment. The paper is Summer Picnic and Real Red.

Got a new haircut

I didnt cut too many inches off due to the fact my DH loves long hair but I did get some layers. Im planning on highlighting it sometime soon. I can not believe how much I paid for the haircut...lets just say alot. But it was totally worth it!! Love my new stylist and bought some awesome(also expensive) shampoo and conditioner. I never really spent alot on myself for beauty products but I wasnt happy with what I had so I guess I'll bite the bullet and get the costly stuff. Its amazing how a simple haircut makes you feel soooo much better about yourself. I demoed my 1st workshop today. Only had 3 people but we still had a blast!

Found a new cool blog

I found a really cool blog called There she goes and was trying out some cards and 3D items she had on there. 1st(sorry its blurry) is a really cool technique to cut out a image from a magazine and put packing tape over it and soak it in water. You can find the tutorial here. The second image is what happen when I totally messed up. I was trying to make this flower, and I folded the paper wrong so I turned it into a shamrock instead. I really love the packing tape technique. I love to personalize my birthday cards and for almost all my guys friends, its really hard to do. Now I can take images from magazines that appeal to their interest and make a card. I made a card with an AK-47 (gun) for my husband and he just LOVES it.

Had a Stamp Attack

I was browsing SCS and saw this card and just had to try it. When a stamp attack comes a calling, I just cant ignore it. Below is a pic of a wipes pkg, I was changing Riley's diaper and ran outta of wipes. I put it on the table along with my scrap paper pile to be thrown away. I decided to use it as a trash bag. I'll just keep filling it up till its full, and the lid pops down so no mess!! Their all about being "green" out here in WA so I guess it is me doing my part, RRR.

Too busy cleaning ewwww

Ive been too busy cleaning house today to make anything up. But I plan to run to Jo Anns when dh gets home from work and make a card lunch box tin to have for display for a class Im doing in a couple weeks. It'll probably be Tart and Tangy theme..I love that set!!! Eventually I would like to get the new recipe set and do a tin class with that. On a different note, my son Riley is starting to walk..YAY! He'll be turning 1 on April 24th and I'll be flying back to MI on the 15th. Cant wait to get home to see all my family and friends. You dont realize all you have till its gone and I miss them dearly!!! I miss my group of crafts friends and family!! Its not the same to sit at home....alone and stamp.

Paper Crafts mag Insiprations

I bought the March issue of Paper Crafts. The 1st card is from page 31 by Nichole Heady. In her card she attached the circles to strips of paper and trimmed off what overlapped over. I always try to change things up so I did not do it by strips. I really like, it sorta likes like camoflauge. It'll make an awesome man card and Im always looking for masculine cards.
The second card is on page 44 by Nichole Heady(HAHA I just noticed their both by the same gal!) I totally messed up on the orignal design so I had to fix it. Its not anything like what she did..so I'll have to come back to that design some other day.

Enjoy Box

I have boxes of giant clips for make and takes. As I was going to throw an empty box away one day, I thought "I could use this for something". Well today I pulled it out and decided to use it as an template and make a box. I just took the box apart and cut at one end. Then I traced each piece onto a piece of 12x12 cardstock, I used purely pomegrante here. I then cut out each piece(be sure to include little tab on little piece) then I scored using the box as reference. Then I glued it together. It was quick and actually simple. I used Enjoy Every Moment set and Daisy Dash wheel, scallop punch and soft sky ribbon to decorate. I would have made a template to share but the big piece is too big to fit onto a piece of printer paper. But most gals, especially SU! demos should have these one hand. Give it a try and share what you created!! :)
